Unite to End Digital Violence: HUMFRIEH’s Powerful 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 2025

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence is a global movement that draws attention to one of the world’s most persistent and devastating human rights issues: violence against women and girls. Every year, from November 25 (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day), individuals, organizations, and communities come together to demand accountability, promote gender equality, and take concrete action to eliminate all forms of violence.

This year’s 16 Days of Activism campaign, themed “Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” brought a new dimension to the conversation—focusing on the growing threat of online abuse and harassment. As technology increasingly shapes how young people connect and learn, addressing digital violence is now more vital than ever.

Why the 16 Days of Activism Campaign Matters

Why the 16 Days of Activism Campaign Matters

The ongoing 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign remains an essential platform for advocates, governments, and civil society organizations worldwide. It amplifies voices, supports survivors, and drives conversations that lead to long-term policy and social change.

Here are three ways this campaign drives progress:

  1. Raising global awareness: It encourages communities to see violence against women and girls as a public issue, not a private one.

  2. Promoting accountability: It urges governments and institutions to strengthen laws, ensure enforcement, and support survivors.

  3. Building solidarity: It connects grassroots movements, NGOs, and international bodies in a shared call to end violence in all its forms—including online abuse.

HUMFRIEH’s Community Engagement in Tiko

16 days of activism against gender based violence

On December 9, 2025, the HUMFRIEH Association concluded its activities for the 16 days of gender activism in the Tiko community, emphasizing education and awareness among students in both primary and secondary schools.

Our dedicated team visited several schools, engaging learners in interactive discussions about digital safety, online harassment, and respectful online behavior. Students were encouraged to voice their concerns and share experiences, transforming the awareness sessions into an inclusive dialogue rather than a lecture.

By addressing both the risks and remedies of digital violence, HUMFRIEH helped young people understand that digital spaces should be empowering—not harmful. This school-based approach ensures that prevention starts early, building a generation that values equality, consent, and mutual respect.

The Role of Digital Education in Preventing Violence

The emergence of digital platforms has created new spaces for both empowerment and harm. As part of the 16 days of activism 2025, HUMFRIEH’s campaign in Tiko targeted the root causes of online gender-based violence—misinformation, lack of digital literacy, and normalized online abuse.

By engaging students, teachers, and parents, HUMFRIEH highlighted the importance of digital citizenship and responsible online communication. Such education is key to helping young people identify and confront harmful online behaviors before they escalate.

Through its 16 days of activism campaign, HUMFRIEH reinforced that ending digital violence is not just about online safety—it’s about ensuring human dignity and equality in every space, virtual or physical.

Moving Forward: A Shared Responsibility

As we close this year’s campaign, HUMFRIEH remains committed to continuing advocacy beyond these 16 days of activism. Combating gender-based violence—whether physical, emotional, or digital—requires sustained effort, collaboration, and commitment from all.

We call on individuals, communities, and policymakers to stand united in declaring zero tolerance for gender-based violence and creating safe spaces for everyone, both offline and online. Together, we can end digital violence and ensure equality for all women and girls.

Because while the annual 16 days of activism against gender based violence may have ended, our journey toward justice and gender equality continues every day.
