HUMFRIEH Empowers Children with Identity and Rights through the “My Name Campaign”
On February 11th, 2025, in a significant stride toward empowering the youth of Tiko municipality, HUMFRIEH proudly facilitated the issuance of 218 free birth certificates to primary school pupils under the national “My Name Campaign.” This impactful event was organized in celebration of National Youths Day and held under the patronage of UNICEF, highlighting the campaign’s powerful slogan: “My Name, My Identity, My Right.” The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Divisional Officer of Tiko, underscoring the importance of legal identity for children as a fundamental human right.
Why This Activity Matters
Birth registration is much more than a bureaucratic formality — it is the first and most crucial step in securing a child’s legal identity. A birth certificate is the gateway to accessing essential services such as education, health care, social protection, and legal rights. Without it, children remain invisible in the eyes of the law, vulnerable to exploitation, and often face barriers in realizing their full potential.

Empowering the Youth with Legal Identity
By facilitating the issuance of 218 birth certificates to young pupils from various schools in Tiko municipality, HUMFRIEH has directly contributed to strengthening the foundations of these children’s futures. This initiative ensures that:
Children gain official recognition: Having a birth certificate affirms a child’s existence and citizenship, securing their right to a name and an identity.
Access to education is guaranteed: Many schools require proof of identity for enrollment. This process helps eliminate administrative hurdles that often prevent children from attending school.
Protection from exploitation is enhanced: Registered children are less likely to be trafficked, employed unlawfully, or subjected to child labour.
Access to healthcare is improved: A birth certificate facilitates access to immunizations, medical treatment, and future social services.
Civic participation is preserved: The legal identity is essential for participating fully in society as the child grows into adulthood.
HUMFRIEH’s Role in Community Development
This birth certificate issuance aligns perfectly with HUMFRIEH’s mission to promote health, legal rights, and social welfare within vulnerable communities. The “My Name Campaign” underscores our commitment to collaborative initiatives that bridge the gap between government services, civil society, and the community to improve lives. Organizing this campaign in partnership with UNICEF showcases how united efforts can create significant positive change.
A Step Toward Inclusive Growth
The National Youths Day celebration is an inspiring moment to reflect on the potential of youth as future leaders, innovators, and contributors to society. When every child has an identity and their rights secured, they are empowered to dream bigger and aim higher. HUMFRIEH believes that every child deserves the dignity that comes with recognition and legal identity — a cornerstone for building more equitable and sustainable communities.
